Railway bridge over the Danube on the Krauchenwies – Sigmaringen line

The railway Krauchenwies-Sigmaringen Association from 1873 to 1969 the town Krauchenwies at the Hegau Ablachtal train with the railway junction Sigmaringen . The Baden State Railways built and operated the route in the field of since 1850 to Prussia belonging Province of Hohenzollern . This was the condition for Prussia's permission to Baden to build the Hegau-Ablachtal railway over the Hohenzollern area. The route was opened on September 6, 1873.

On May 31, 1969, the last passenger train left the Messkirch station in the direction of Sigmaringen. For this event, the railcar was hung with mourning decorations and symbolically "carried to the grave" with music and a cross.

The Deutsche Bundesbahn ceased all operations on June 1, 1969, and in 1971 it was dismantled. The embankment and individual railway bridges have been preserved to this day. The entire railway line ran in what was then and is now the district of Sigmaringen .

  2. ^ According to Die Eisenbahn am Bodensee (EK-Verlag), passenger traffic was supposedly stopped on May 23, 1954. In the same book, however, there is a picture of a ready-to-go VT in Sigmaringen towards Radolfzell from 1958 and a book timetable for VT 98 Radolfzell – Sigmaringen, valid 1966. The 1963 summer timetable contains the Radolfzell – Sigmaringen route completely, so the route is not 1954, but was probably not "coped with" until 1969.
