Baar (Swabia) is a municipality in the Swabian district of Aichach-Friedberg and a member of the Pöttmes administrative community . The Little Couple flows through the community .

history
On January 1, 1972, the previously independent municipalities of Unter- and Oberbaar were merged to form the new municipality of Baar (Swabia). The new municipality also belonged to the district of Neuburg an der Donau and was added to the district of Augsburg-West on July 1, 1972 in the course of the district reform in Bavaria (change of name to the district of Augsburg on May 1, 1973). On May 1, 1978 the community was incorporated into Thierhaupten . The struggle of the community residents led to the regaining of community independence on January 1, 1994. Heimpersdorf moved from Thierhaupten to the new community on the same day. Since then, Baar has been part of the Pöttmes administrative community in the Aichach-Friedberg district .

Leonhard Kandler (Baar voter community) was mayor from 1994 (regaining independence) until April 30, 2020. On March 15, 2020, Roman Pekis (voter community Baar) was elected as his successor with 63.1% of three applicants .
Municipal council
In addition to the mayor, the municipal council has twelve councilors. In the 2014 to 2020 term of office, all twelve councils were elected via the community list from the SPD / Independent List (ULB) and the Voting Community (WGB).
