Unterbaar is a district of Baar in the district of Aichach-Friedberg , which belongs to the administrative district of Swabia in Bavaria . The district of Unterbaar also includes the wasteland of Dürnberg west of Unterbaar.

geography

Unterbaar is located directly north of the neighboring town of Oberbaar in the valley of the Kleine Paar on the plateau of the Lower Lechrain of the Aindlinger terrace staircase . In terms of natural space, it belongs to the Donau-Iller-Lech-Platte , which in turn is part of the Alpine foothills , one of the main natural spatial units in Germany . State road 2047 from Rain to Aichach
runs through Unterbaar and crosses state road 2045 from Meitingen to Pöttmes on the western edge of the town .

history

Unterbaar was first mentioned at the beginning of the 13th century as a subdivision or inferior Parra . The name can be traced back to the little couple who run through Unterbaar. From Parra was Barre and later Baar .
Baar is mentioned as early as the early 13th century as Vogtei Barre , part of the royal estate and office of Neuburg an der Donau . The bailiwick owners were the lords of Pappenheim , the lords of Graisbach and finally the lords of Gumppenberg . When the Wittelsbach family conquered all of the Pappenheimer property in and around Neuburg in 1240, the Baar bailiwick fell into their hands. The Thierhaupten Monastery , the Monheim Monastery and the House of the Teutonic Order in Aichach held other properties .

Saint Margareta Church

At the end of the 14th century, the noble rule ( Hofmark ) of the Holzheimer, a noble family from the northern neighboring town of Holzheim , arose in Unterbaar , which then died out in the male line around 1450. In the following, the Hofmark and the Unterbaar Castle belonged to the following families: The Rieder von Paar (1450–1564), the Muggenthaler (1564–1652), the Höhenkirchen (1652–1712), the Schenk von Castell (1712–1775), the Lafabrique (1775–1864), the Heiligenstein (1864–1870), the Moreau and the Arco-Zinneberg (1870–1916), the Himmelsbach, Gustav Einstein (1925–1932 and 1956–1963), Hans Emslander (1933–1956) and since 1963 the Groß von Trockau .

The Catholic Church of St. Margareta has been a branch church of the parish of St. Laurentius in Oberbaar since 1924 . Before that she belonged to the parish of the Assumption of Mary in Holzheim .

On January 1, 1972, the union with Oberbaar to form the new municipality of Baar (Swabia) . On May 1, 1978 Baar was incorporated into the Thierhaupten market ( Augsburg district ). On January 1, 1994, after a long struggle, Baar regained its independence and has since been part of the Aichach-Friedberg district and the Pöttmes administrative community .
