Holzheim is a municipality in the Swabian district of Donau-Ries . The place of the same name is both the capital and the seat of the municipal administration.

history
Until the church is planted
Holzheim belonged to the Munich Rent Office and the Rain Regional Court of the Electorate of Bavaria . In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .
District affiliation
Until July 1, 1972, Holzheim belonged to the district of Neuburg an der Donau and was then added to the district of Donau-Ries , which until May 1, 1973 was called the district of Nördlingen-Donauwörth , as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
Incorporations
On January 1, 1976, the communities Bergendorf, Riedheim and Stadel were incorporated. On May 1, 1978 Pessenburgheim was added. On July 1, 2014, Holzheim was given a partial area of 0.6 km² of the former community-free area of Brand .

Between 1988 and 2018 the municipality grew from 1,036 to 1,159 by 123 inhabitants or by 11.9%.

The community is a member of the Rain administrative community . From April 5, 1976 to April 30, 1996, Anton Schenk (1924–2015, CSU ) was the first mayor since the congregations were merged . His successor Robert Ruttmann (CSU), in office from May 1, 1996 to April 30, 2020, was re-elected in 2002, 2008 and 2014.
On March 15, 2020, Josef Schmidberger (non-party) was elected First Mayor without any competition; his term of office began on May 1, 2020.

Of the residents, 523 were in employment subject to social insurance contributions (June 30, 2017), so that the number of inbound commuters was 105 higher than the number of outbound commuters.
