In 1550 300 people lived in the village, after the withdrawal of the Swedes in 1638, nine people remained - close to starvation. Since 1777 the area was part of the Electorate of Bavaria . The development of the place is characterized by the needlework , which led the place to blossom. Röglinger needles were sold worldwide in the 17th and 18th centuries. In 1805 there were still more than 100 master needleworkers in Rögling; In the period that followed, however, this craft quickly died out as a result of new technical developments. There were new jobs in the nearby Solnhofen lithography quarries.
