Alfred Böswald (politician)

Alfred Böswald ( November 30, 1931 in Rögling - November 2, 2018 in Donauwörth ) was a German historian , local politician ( CSU ) and mayor .

Life

Böswald grew up as one of five children of a small farmer family with a general store in Rögling near Donauwörth. His two grandfathers acted as mayors of Rögling and Tagmersheim .

After graduating from high school, Böswald studied history at the University of Munich, where he did his doctorate .

From 1966 to 1996 he was a member of the district council and spokesman for the Swabian cities in the city council. From 1970 to 1998 he was mayor and from 1998 to 2002 lord mayor of Donauwörth. He was also a member of the Swabian District Assembly for 28 years and chairman of the CSU parliamentary group there.

Under his aegis, a partnership was concluded with the Austrian market town of Perchtoldsdorf in 1973 .

In 2005, Böswald received a penalty order for 15,000 euros for embezzlement, which he also paid.

In November 2018 he died four weeks before his 87th birthday in the Donau-Ries-Klinik in Donauwörth. Böswald was married for 60 years and had three children.
