Benjamin Rosenbaum

Benjamin Rosenbaum (* 23. August 1969 in Long Iceland , New York ) is an American science fiction - and fantasy - writer . He is a programmer as a sideline. His works have been nominated several times for the Hugo , the Nebula , the Sturgeon Award , the BSFA and the World Fantasy Award .

biography

Born in Long Island, he grew up in Arlington . He graduated from Brown University in computer science and religious studies . In the past, he developed software for the National Science Foundation , the community of Washington, DC and he was one of the founders of Digital Addiction, a game developer who in 1996 developed the online game Sanctum.

His first professional story appeared in 2001. It was featured in The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction , Asimov's Science Fiction , Harper's , Nature , and McSweeney's Quarterly Concern . It was also published on the Internet portals Strange Horizons and Infinite Matrix . The Ant King and Other Stories , a collection of Rosenbaum's short stories, was published by Small Beer Press .

The first novel The Resolution was not published in English at all, but in German by Piper Verlag in May 2018 .

Rosenbaum lived in Washington DC for a while with his wife Esther and children Aviva and Noah. They currently live near Basel .
