Geographical location

The church village is located in the Nördlinger Ries , nine kilometers east of Nördlingen, and is part of the Augsburg planning region . The Wörnitz crosses the municipality in a north-south direction.

The municipality consists of four districts , which correspond to the former municipalities, and has seven districts :

history

Until the church is planted

For the first time in the 8th century AD Alerheim was mentioned in a document as "Villa Alarheim" in connection with a donation to the imperial abbey of Fulda . In the Thirty Years' War , the village was heavily devastated in 1645 during the Battle of Alerheim , and the reconstruction was only completed after 70 years. Alerheim was owned by the Oettingen - Wallerstein family from 1306 to 1806 and became part of Bavaria with the Rhine Confederation Act in 1806 as the Oberamt of the Principality of Oettingen-Wallerstein .

Incorporations

On January 1, 1972, Wörnitzostheim was incorporated as part of the municipal reform, and on January 1, 1978 the municipalities of Bühl im Ries with their districts and Rudelstetten were added.

Between 1988 and 2018 the municipality grew from 1,502 to 1,637 inhabitants or by 9%.

Mayor has been Christoph Schmid (Freie Wahlgemeinschaft Alerheim) since May 2008; he was re-elected in 2014 and 2020. The predecessor was Gerhard Ament (Alerheim / Rudelstetten voter association).

Economy including agriculture and forestry

The municipal tax revenue amounted to the equivalent of € 714,000 in 1999, of which € 153,000 (net) was trade tax revenue.

In 1998 there were no employees at the place of work in agriculture and forestry, 180 in manufacturing and 53 in trade and transport. There were 598 employees at the place of residence subject to social security contributions. There was one in the manufacturing industry (as well as mining and quarrying of stones and earth) and six in the construction industry. In addition, in 1999 there were 87 farms with an agriculturally used area of ​​1,909 ha. Of this, 1,488 ha were arable land and 419 ha were permanent green space.

  • Day care center for children: The Alerheim kindergarten is sponsored by the Evangelical Lutheran Church Community and has 60 places. It is attended by 55 children, including 8 crèche children under three years of age.
  • SVE, school preparatory facility of Schwabenhilfe e. V .: Three groups from the Schwabenhilfe funding facility are housed in the school building and are attended by children from all over Ries.
  • Primary school: In Alerheim there is a largely single-course primary school for grades 1–4, the Johann-Wilhelm-Klein-Volksschule (one grade is two-tier). It is attended by around 100 students in five classes.

People connected to the community

  • King Heinrich (VII.) , In 1235, Emperor Friedrich II kept his rebellious son in custody in the castle in the Schloßruine district . He was “passing through” and came to Alerheim from the castle dungeon in Heidelberg . He was then transferred further via Friuli to Apulia and held captive in the San Fele fort and other castles in southern Italy until his death .
  • Franz von Mercy (1597–1645), Commander in Chief in the Thirty Years' War, died in Alerheim. A memorial stone near the Stephanuskirche reminds of this.
