Wörnitzostheim is a church village and part of the Bavarian municipality of Alerheim in the Donau-Ries district .
geography
Wörnitzostheim is surrounded by fields and meadows, about one and a half kilometers southeast of Alerheim in the Rieskessel . The Wörnitz flows past in the east. The district road DON 15 runs through the village .
history
Finds from all epochs of prehistory prove an early settlement. In historical times, a ford through the Wörnitz and the favorable location on an old road into the Ries were probably the main reasons for founding the village. In the 9th century the place is called Ostheim. The first documented written reference was 1254. Several manors had estates in the village, the country wonderfully by the Counts of Oettingen by the Oberamt Alerheim was administered. During the Thirty Years' War the place was largely depopulated, only the influx of religious refugees ( exiles ) from Upper Austria , who made up almost half of the population at the end of the 17th century, brought life to the village again.
On January 1, 1972, the previously independent community was incorporated into Alerheim.
Attractions
The Protestant parish church of St. Maria and Anna, built in the Middle Ages, with a walled cemetery is a protected architectural monument .
economy
The village, which used to be largely agricultural, now has only a few full-time farmers . There is an industrial park on the western edge.
