history

The place is named after the nearby Wennenberg ( 469  m ). First mentioned in a document in 1324, the grain mill changed hands several times. In 1834 it was acquired and modernized by Friedrich Hauck. In 1909, his grandson Karl-Friedrich Hauck began generating electrical energy. A Voith turbine with an output of 65 kW and a generator were installed. First Alerheim, then Rudelstetten and finally the city of Wemding were supplied with electricity. An Ossberger turbine with an output of 45 kW was added by 1930 . In the same year, the plant was integrated into the UJAG network , today's EnBW ODR . In 1950 the Ossberger turbine was replaced by a Francis turbine , which was modernized in 2003. The Voith turbine from 1909 gave way to a Kaplan turbine in 1994 . Up to 750,000 kWh of electricity can be generated per year, which corresponds to the consumption of around 200 households. In the 2000s, the weir for fish and small organisms was made more open again by installing a fish ladder .
