Fritz Ossberger (* 1877 in Thalmässing ; † 1947 in Weißenburg in Bavaria ) was a German engineer , inventor and entrepreneur . Fritz Ossberger was born in 1877 as the second son of Michael Ossberger, who ran a factory for agricultural machines in Thalmässing . From 1895 to 1898 Fritz Ossberger studied mechanical engineering at the Mittweida technical center and graduated as an engineer. Since his father's company was taken over by older brother Carl, Fritz founded his own company Civil.Ing in 1906 after completing his training as a civil engineer specializing in hydraulic engineering . After the Second World War and the death of Fritz Ossberger in 1947, his nephew Karl Ossberger expanded the company and developed it into the world's leading manufacturer of cross-flow turbines. The company founded by Fritz Ossberger, which is still family-owned, operates today as Ossberger GmbH & Co and continues to focus on the area of ​​water turbines, especially in the area of small and medium-sized systems. The company has manufactured approximately 10,000 turbines since its inception.
