history

It is in Riedheim a -heim-site , that is, the settlement was of Bavaria founded around 600 to 650 AD. Ried indicates a deforestation .

Early on, Riedheim was an aristocratic seat, first Graisbacher Ministeriale, who then named themselves after the place Riedheimer . Late 14th century who took Riederer the possessions of Riedheimer in the area and built their own Hofmark in Unterbaar (from then on they called themselves Riederer von Paar).

At the end of the 16th century the Muggenthalers by marriage took over the Hofmark Unterbaar and the seat in Riedheim, but soon sold the noble mansion of Riedheim and its manors to the Thierhaupten Monastery , which sold it on to the Welsers as early as 1624 . These obtained the lower jurisdiction and expanded the property through purchase.

In 1671 the Lords of Sandizell bought the Hofmark Riedheim and the property in Stadel and held them with a short interruption until 1800. During this period, the administration of the Hofmarks, including the archive, was moved to the Sandizell moated castle .

Around 1800 the castle property was sold to the farmer Josef Kellerer from Riedheim and over time was given the name Zum Schlossbauern .

Historically, Riedheim is legally closely linked to Stadel. The undistributed community areas are recorded in the land register in the land register according to fixed parts on fixed farms in both old communities.

Riedheim belongs to the Catholic parish of the Assumption in Holzheim.

Until June 30, 1972, the independent municipality of Riedheim belonged to the district of Neuburg an der Donau and was then added to the district of Donau-Ries, which until May 1, 1973 was called the district of Nördlingen-Donauwörth , as part of the regional reform in Bavaria . Riedheim was incorporated into the Holzheim community on January 1, 1976.
