La Haye-Pesnel is a French commune with 1,330 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Manche in the region of Normandy .
geography
La Haye-Pesnel is 78 kilometers northeast of Rennes , 42 kilometers southwest of Saint-Lô , 15 kilometers southeast of Granville and about the same distance from the coast. The Airou and Thar rivers flow through the municipality. Neighboring municipalities of La Haye-Pesnel are Hocquigny in the north-west, Le Tanu in the east, Champcervon in the south and La Lucerne-d'Outremer in the south-west. The municipality covers 629 hectares, the mean height is 98 meters above sea level , the Mairie stands at a height of 95 meters.
La Haye-Pesnel is assigned to a type Cfb (according to Köppen and Geiger ) climate zone : warm, moderate rainy climate (C), fully humid (f), warmest month below 22 ° C, at least four months above 10 ° C (b). There is a maritime climate with a moderate summer.
history
The Normans had a fortified camp at La Haye-Pesnel during the invasion of Normandy. In the Middle Ages the place was a fiefdom of the Pesnel family.

Culture and sights
La Haye-Pesnel is represented with a flower in the Conseil national des villes et villages fleuris (National Council of Flowered Cities and Villages). The "flowers" are awarded in the course of a regional competition, whereby a maximum of three flowers can be achieved.
Revolutionary slogans are engraved on a bell from 1793 . It was cast from two older bells by the bell founder Sulpice Jourdan. The bell is classified as a monument historique ('historical monument').
The Sainte-Marie-Madeleine church dates from the 19th century. In the church there are two also listed confessionals , which were made in 1691 and may have come from Brittany .
economy
