Barenton is a commune with 1,172 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Manche department in the region of Normandy . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Avranches and the canton of Le Mortainais (until 2015: canton of Barenton ). The inhabitants are called barentonnais .

geography

Barenton is about 40 kilometers east-southeast of downtown Avranches . The parish is part of the Normandy-Maine Regional Nature Park . Barenton is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Ger in the north and northeast, Saint-Georges-de-Rouelley in the east, Saint-Cyr-du-Bailleul in the south, Saint-Jean-du-Corail in the west and Saint-Clément-Racoudray in the northwest.
