Brécey is a French commune with a population of 2,120 (as at 1st January 2017) in the department of Manche in the region of Normandy . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Avranches and the canton of Isigny-le-Buat (until 2015: canton of Brécey ). The inhabitants are called Brécéens .

Brécey is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Les Loges-sur-Brécey in the north, Saint-Laurent-de-Cuves in the east and north-east, Les Cresnays in the east and south-east, Reffuveille in the south-east, Le Grand-Celland in the south, Le Petit-Celland in the Southwest, Vernix in the west and southwest, Saint-Georges-de-Livoye in the west and northwest and Notre-Dame-de-Livoye in the northwest.

The former route nationale 799 (today's D999) runs through the municipality .
