Kätlin Vainola (born September 30, 1978 in Tallinn ) is an Estonian author.

Life

Kätlin Vainola was born as Kätlin Kõlamets in the Estonian capital. She first spent her school days in Põlva, then in the Tallinn district of Pääsküla . She then studied Estonian Philology at the Tallinn Pedagogical University until 2002 .

She first wrote poems and lyrics for the well-known Estonian bands Sõpruse Puiestee and Vennaskond . In 2005 she made her debut as a children's book author with her first work Ville . It tells of a boy who lives with his grandparents.

Subsequently, other children's literature appeared from her. With Lift (2013) and Kus on armastus (2014) she was nominated for the Children's Literature Prize of the Eesti Kultuurkapital Foundation . Lift was included in the renowned White Ravens catalog of the International Youth Library in Munich on the occasion of the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2014. For Kus on armastus she won first prize at the Estonian children's book competition Põlvepikuraamat in 2013 .

Kätlin Vainola is also known by her literary pseudonym Marie Myrk . She has been a member of the Estonian Writers' Union since 2014 .

Kätlin Vainola is married to the Estonian guitarist and singer Allan Vainola (* 1968). The couple have two children.
