Estonian Philology is the scientific discipline that deals with the Estonian language , literature and culture .
The Estonian Philology is a sub-area of the Fennistik and thus a sub- discipline of the Finn-Ugristik and Uralistik .
Study and Research
Estonian Philology is mainly taught at the Philosophical Faculties of Estonian universities , especially at the University of Tartu , but also at the University of Tallinn .
In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, Estonian Philology is not offered as a separate course of study, but is usually taught in connection with the study of Finno-Ugric or Fenian Studies . The focus of Estonian philology in Germany is Greifswald and Göttingen , which also offer language courses. Some other universities only offer language courses in Estonian.
The most important research institution for Estonian philology is the " Institute for Estonian Language " ( Eesti Keele Instituut ) in Tallinn .
