Sourdeval is a French commune with 3,173 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Manche department in the region of Normandy . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Avranches and the Canton of Le Mortainais .
It was created with effect from January 1, 2016 by merging the former municipalities of Sourdeval and Vengeons into a commune nouvelle of the same name . The former municipalities have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Sourdeval.

geography
Sourdeval is 32 km east of Avranches , about halfway between Rennes and Caen , at an altitude between 155 and 354 meters. It is 44 km to the west and 80 km to the north to the English Channel , which connects the North Sea with the Atlantic Ocean . The 79 km long river Sée , which flows into the English Channel, has its source in the municipality of Sourdeval .
Partner communities
Sourdeval has had a partnership with Uchte , a town in the Lower Saxony district of Nienburg / Weser , since 1992 . There is also a partnership with the English community of Odiham in Hampshire , a county on the south coast of England .
