Sourdeval is a village and a former French commune with 2,721 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Manche department in the region of Normandy . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Avranches and the Canton of Le Mortainais .
With effect from January 1, 2016, the previous municipalities of Sourdeval and Vengeons were merged into the Commune nouvelle Sourdeval of the same name . The former municipalities have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Sourdeval.

Sourdeval is located about 32 kilometers east of Avranches , about halfway between Rennes and Caen . It is 44 kilometers to the west and 80 kilometers to the north to the English Channel , which connects the North Sea with the Atlantic Ocean .
