Schnellmannskreuth is a parish village in the northern district of Aichach-Friedberg . The place is located in a rural area north of the Brandbühlbach about twelve kilometers north of the district town of Aichach and is part of the market Pöttmes .

history

The name on -kreuth indicates a clearing. In the 13th century, a Schnellmann family appears in the documents , to which the current place name most likely goes back. The village was the seat of a Hofmark .

In 1954 the spelling of the place name was officially changed from Schnellmannskreit to Schnellmannskreuth .

In the course of the municipal reorganization of Bavaria Schnellmannskreuth lost the status of an independent municipality on January 1, 1972 and was incorporated into the Pöttmes market.

Attractions

The townscape is shaped by the Catholic parish church of St. Mary of the Assumption. The choir and tower of the church date from the 15th century , the nave from the 18th century .

Residents

The village has about 220 inhabitants and is divided into upper and lower villages.
