Wilhelm Liebhart

Wilhelm Liebhart (born October 26, 1951 in Altomünster ) is a German historian and professor at the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences . He is a leading exponent of local science, i.e. the micro-history of his homeland in eastern Swabia and western Upper Bavaria .

Life

Wilhelm Liebhart attended the Albertus Gymnasium in Lauingen and studied history , historical auxiliary sciences , German and political science at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich from 1972 to 1977 . From 1977 to 1981 he worked as a research assistant at the University of Augsburg , professor for Bavarian and Swabian regional history at Pankraz Fried . There he received his doctorate in 1980 on the property and economic history of the Reichsstift St. Ulrich and Afra zu Augsburg . From 1981 to 1989 he worked in the higher library service at the Bavarian State Library in Munich and at the Augsburg University Library. In 1989 he was appointed professor of history, politics and literature at the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences , Department of General Sciences.

Wilhelm Liebhart has been a member of the Schwäbische Forschungsgemeinschaft e. V. of the Commission for Bavarian State History at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences . In 2003 he became an associate member of the Historical Section of the Academica Benedictina Bavarica . Since 1997 he has been in charge of the Birgitten- und Klostermuseum Altomünster , which he designed as a scientific advisor and which he has also directed since 2014. Since 1999 he has published the local history quarterly “ Amperland ” for the districts and large district towns of Dachau , Freising and Fürstenfeldbruck .

He is a university professor and researcher who has a wide range of interests and who often had to work as a culture and science manager. His main idea is the scientific local history, which he has implemented micro-historically, so to speak, in many homeland books and community chronicles.
