The Albertus-Gymnasium Lauingen is named after the most important son of the city, Albertus Magnus . It goes back to the grammar school illustre in the former monastery of St. Agnes , founded in 1561 by Count Palatine Wolfgang , which disappeared again with the re-Catholicization in the 17th century. As a successor, the teachers' seminar was moved from Dillingen to Lauingen in the building ("old building") of the former Augustinian monastery in 1841 , thus establishing today's Albertus grammar school.

From 1970 to 1980 the "new building" of the grammar school was built due to a lack of space and modernization.
