Grimolzhausen is a parish village and part of the market Pöttmes in the district of Aichach-Friedberg , which belongs to the administrative district of Swabia in Bavaria . The villages of Au , Eiselsried and Pertenau are also located in the area of the same name .
In the local variant of the West Central Bavarian dialect, the place is called Greamazhausn .
geography
Grimolzhausen is located east of Pöttmes on the southern edge of the old Bavarian Donaumoos . The Danube-Isar hill country begins to the south . In terms of natural space, it belongs to the Lower Bavarian hill country , which in turn is part of the Alpine Foreland , one of the main natural spatial units in Germany . Pertenau and Au are to the west, Eiselsried south of Grimolzhausen.
The place Grimolzhausen is on the west-east running state road St 2045 from Meitingen via Pöttmes to Schrobenhausen .
The neighboring towns of Grimolzhausen are in the west the main town Pöttmes and Neumühle , in the northwest the desert Abenberg , in the north the Königsmooser district Klingsmoos , in the northeast the Langenmosen districts Gilching and Malzhausen , in the east and southeast the Schrobenhausen districts Sandizell and Gollingkreut , in the south behind one large forest area Schnellmannskreuth and in the southwest Sedlbrunn and Dieß .
The conservation area Auwald an der Ach is located in the Grimolzhausen district .
history
Grimolzhausen was founded around 1000 during the reign of Bavarian Duke Heinrich the Holy . The name means something like houses of Grimwald or houses of Grimold . In the High Middle Ages, Eiselsried was an extension of Grimolzhausen. Pertenau was then a castle and Hofmark of the House of Bavaria and later the Wittelsbach family . Au was administered by the Gumppenbergers as a fief of the Eichstätt bishopric .
The Catholic parish of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary in Grimolzhausen is part of the Pöttmes parish community. Eiselsried, Neumühle and Pertenau belong to the parish . The retracted choir and the saddle roof tower of the parish church date back to the 15th century, the current nave is from 1855/56.
The municipality of Grimolzhausen, with its three districts , was an independent municipality in the Upper Bavarian district of Schrobenhausen since the municipality was founded by the Bavarian municipal edict from 1818 to July 1, 1972 and, as part of the regional reform in Bavaria, became part of the Swabian district of Augsburg-Ost. May 1973 with the current name of the district of Aichach-Friedberg , closed and incorporated into the market Pöttmes.
