history

The parish church of Saint Joseph

Klingsmoos was settled from 1822 after the moor of the Donaumoos was drained. At that time it was called Theresienfeld .
In 1831, Theresienfeld was renamed Klingsmoos by King Ludwig I of Bavaria in honor of Johann Peter von Kling , who was essential for the reclamation of the Danube moss. In the same year, the municipality of Königsmoos was formed from the places Ludwigsmoos (until then Ludwigsfeld ), Klingsmoos, Grabmühle (today near Langenmosen ) and the colonist property of Peter Lohner. It should be a unified moss community. Since this did not suit the people of Klingsmoos, they asked for an independent community to be formed, which was approved in 1845.

Until July 1, 1972, the independent municipality of Klingsmoos belonged to the district of Neuburg an der Donau and then fell to the enlarged district of Neuburg an der Donau with the regional reform in Bavaria , which was renamed the district of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen on May 1, 1973 . On January 1, 1974, the community received an area of the neighboring town of Schrobenhausen with 202 inhabitants. On January 1, 1975, the three moss communities Klingsmoos (then 738 inhabitants), Ludwigsmoos and Untermaxfeld merged to form Königsmoos.

Attractions

  • In the modern parish church of Sankt Josef , the historical furnishings of the previous building are under monument protection . This first Catholic parish church in the Donaumoos village was built in 1921/22. The first mass took place on the first Sunday of Advent in 1922, the tabernacle and altar were initially on loan. The design of the high altar was not commissioned to Michael Kurz until 1928 ; The architect Hans Döllgast is also said to have been involved. It was made by the Munich sculptor Karl Baur . When the dilapidated church was demolished, the parish kept the altar and rebuilt it in the new church in 1979. A restoration took place in 2018.
