history

In 1007, the then imperial couple Heinrich II and Kunigunde gave the Benedictine nuns from Neuburg an der Donau the manorial rule over the imperial area of ​​Sandizell with Sandizell, Purgau and other farms in Mosen and Winkelhausen. In 1464, Sandizell Castle was referred to as the Hofmark of the Sandizeller family . The castle was destroyed by the Swedes in the Thirty Years War in 1632, except for the east wing that is still preserved today. In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , the municipality of Sandizell was created with the municipal edict of 1818 . The noble privileges were abolished in the revolution of 1848 . On January 1, 1972, the previously independent community Sandizell was incorporated into Schrobenhausen .
