Edgar Krausen
Edgar Krausen (born December 29, 1912 in Munich ; † January 15, 1988 there ) was a German archivist and historian .
Life
Krausen was born the son of a Munich doctor. He studied German , history and newspaper studies . In 1937 Krausen was promoted to archive trainee and in 1940 to archive assessor . He had been a participant in World War II since 1939 and was released from American captivity in 1945.
In the same year Krausen got a job as an archive assessor at the State Archives in Neuburg an der Donau . In 1948 he became State Archives Councilor at the Secret State Archives in Munich. Since 1955 he was a member of the German editorial team of Analecta Cisterciensia . From 1957 he taught as a lecturer at the Bavarian Archive School . As early as 1951, Krausen worked at the Bavarian Main State Archives in Munich and in the General Directorate of the Bavarian State Archives, from 1965 as senior government archivist and from 1970 as state archives director. In 1967 he took over the second chairmanship of the Association for Christian Art. V. in Munich. A year later he became a member of the editorial board of the magazine Citeaux published by the Trappists .
Edgar Krausen died on January 15, 1988, at the age of 75, in Munich, the city of his birth. He was buried in the Munich forest cemetery. Krausen was a member of the Commission d'Histoire de l'Ordre de Citeaux, the Bavarian Benedictine Academy and editor of the communications for archive maintenance in Bavaria . He was the author and editor of numerous specialist publications and co-author of the New German Biography . His main research interests were piety research, Munich city history and the history of monasteries in Bavaria, especially the history of the Cistercian order .
His written estate , consisting of documents from his archival-scientific work, manuscripts and correspondence, with a term from 1940 to 1988, is in the Bavarian Main State Archives in Munich.
