Geography and traffic

Mittelstetten is located directly east of Rain in the direction of Staudheim and Burgheim in the Danube Valley between the B 16 from Ulm to Ingolstadt in the north, the district road DON 39 from Rain to Burgheim in the south and the state road 2047 , which forms the east bypass of Rain, in the west. Neuhof is located on the northern side of the B 16 on the local road to Niederschönenfeld .

Filial church of St. George

Mittelstetten was probably only founded in the 10th century as an extension between the towns of Staudheim and Brucklach near Rain. This is also suggested by the name. The first mention was in 1100 as one of the goods that the Count of Scheyern the monastery Scheyern had given.
As a result, however, the Niederschönenfeld Monastery acquired more and more land in Mittelstetten.
The Catholic Filialkirche Sankt Georg is a branch of the city parish Sankt Johannes Baptist in Rain and was built around 1500.
The former independent municipality Mittelstetten belonged since 1880 to the district office and district Neuburg an der Donau and was on July 1, 1972, its dissolution in the course of administrative reform in Bavaria added to the district of Donau-Ries, who until May 1, 1973, the name of the district Nördlingen-Donauwörth wore. On January 1, 1977 it was incorporated into the city of Rain.
