The Kirchdorf Unterpeiching is a district of the city Rain in the district Donau-Ries , administrative region Swabia .

geography

Unterpeiching is located between the town of Rain and Oberpeiching at the transition between the Lechtal and Aindlinger terrace stairs (Unterer Lechrain and Lechleite). In terms of natural space, it belongs to the Donau-Iller-Lech-Platte , which in turn is part of the Alpine foothills , one of the main natural spatial units in Germany . The place is only 1 km west of the state road 2047 from Rain to Holzheim and is connected with this as well as with Rain and Oberpeiching by local roads.

history

Unterpeiching is probably not a real-life place from the time of the Great Migration. Rather, it was settled relatively late from Oberpeiching and named after it. It is first mentioned in 1427 as Nydernpuechingen .
The landlords from 1600 on are the Niederschönenfeld Monastery , the Hofmark Sandizell , the Hofmark Pöttmes , the electoral caste office Rain and the Stemmer Benificium Rain.
The Catholic branch church Sankt Jakob has always belonged to the parish of Sankt Johannes Baptist in Rain . It has a late Gothic choir tower church, an octagonal tower tower and a sacristy from 1700.
Unterpeiching belonged to the tax district of Oberpeiching since 1808; after the second municipal edict, the municipality of Oberpeiching was formed from this in 1818 - with Unterpeiching as a district. After persistent differences between the two places, the Unterpeiching family was granted permission in 1849 to form their own community in the district court district of Rain . When administration and justice were separated, Unterpeiching and the judicial district were added to the Aichach district office in July 1862 . Because of the better connection after the railway connection , the reclassification to Neuburg an der Donau took place in 1880.
Until June 30, 1972 Unterpeiching belonged as an independent municipality to the district of Neuburg an der Donau and then fell to the
district of Donau-Ries with the regional reform in Bavaria , which was called the district of Nördlingen-Donauwörth until May 1, 1973 . On May 1, 1978 Unterpeiching was incorporated into the city of Rain.
