Wagenhofen is a parish village and district of Rohrenfels in the district of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen , which belongs to the administrative district of Upper Bavaria in Bavaria . The district also includes the village of Ergertshausen , the hamlet of Neustetten and the desert Doferhof .

Wagenhofen is northeast of Rohrenfels on the western edge of the Donaumooses . Ergertshausen and the Doferhof are to the west of Wagenhofen, Neustetten to the east.

Wagenhofen is mentioned for the first time in 1280 as Wägunhofen and in ducal-Bavarian ownership. In the 14th and 15th centuries, other landlords were the Gumppenbergers from Pöttmes , the parish church of St. Maria in Neuburg an der Donau and the Benedictine convent also from Neuburg . From 1505 to 1808 Wagenhofen belonged to the Principality of Pfalz-Neuburg .
The village of Ergertshausen belonged continuously to the Bavarian dukes. In 1945 he was badly hit by bombs.
The hamlet of Neustetten was only founded in 1840 and named after the neighboring Altmannstetten.
The Doferhof was an estate and was first named in 1214 under Toueram as a property of the Pappenheimers . In 1280 it also belonged to the Bavarian dukes. From 1505 the property belonged to the princely court chamber of Neuburg. In 1624 the famous Italian court music director Biagio Marini was enfeoffed with the Doferhof by the Count Palatine Wolfgang Wilhelm .

The Catholic parish church of Sankt Martin in Wagenhofen is an early Gothic choir tower church. The parish includes Ballersdorf , Altmannstetten , Sehensand , Hardt , Neustetten and Gnadenfeld (Kahlhof) . Ergertshausen and the Doferhof belong to the parish of the Visitation of Mary in Rohrenfels. Both parishes belong to the parish community Neuburg an der Donau.

Until July 1, 1972, the independent municipality of Wagenhofen and its districts belonged to the district of Neuburg an der Donau and then fell to the enlarged district of Neuburg an der Donau as part of the regional reform in Bavaria , which was renamed the district of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen on May 1, 1973 received.
