history

The name Ballersdorf comes from Baldersdorf , the village of Balder .
Ballersdorf has always been owned by the Duke of Bavaria, until Duke Heinrich IV of Bavaria, who later became Emperor Heinrich II , donated the village to the newly founded Benedictine convent in Neuburg in the year 1000 , to which it belonged until its dissolution in 1552. Until 1808 Ballersdorf belonged to the Principality of Pfalz-Neuburg . The owners were the Jesuit College in Neuburg until 1783 and then the Malteser-Kommende itself.

The Catholic Herz-Jesu Chapel from the 19th century (neo-baroque) belongs to the parish of Sankt Martin in neighboring Wagenhofen.

Until July 1, 1972, the independent municipality of Ballersdorf belonged to the district of Neuburg an der Donau and then fell to the enlarged district of Neuburg an der Donau as part of the regional reform in Bavaria , which on May 1, 1973 was renamed the district of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen . On May 1, 1978 the place was incorporated into the municipality of Rohrenfels.
