The district of Vohenstrauß belonged to the Bavarian administrative district of Upper Palatinate and existed until it was dissolved in the territorial reform in 1972. Its former area is now in the district of Neustadt an der Waldnaab .

history
District Office
The district office of Vohenstrauß followed in 1862 the same area regional court of the older order Vohenstrauß.
On January 1, 1926, the Vohenstrauß district office ceded the communities of Deindorf, Glaubendorf and Woppenhof to the Nabburg district office.

On January 1, 1939, the uniform designation Landkreis was introduced in the German Reich . The district office became Vohenstrauß.
In 1946 the community of Gmeinsrieth moved to the Oberviechtach district. Part of the community came to Dietersdorf , the other to Schönsee .
On July 1, 1972, the Vohenstrauß district was dissolved in the course of the regional reform in Bavaria and a large part of the dissolved Eschenbach district in the Upper Palatinate was assigned to the Neustadt an der Waldnaab district .

License Plate
On July 1, 1956, the district was assigned the distinctive sign VOH when the vehicle registration number that is still valid today was introduced . It was issued until August 3, 1974. Since July 10, 2013 it has been available again in the Neustadt an der Waldnaab district due to the license plate liberalization .
