Eslarn ( Isling in Upper Palatinate ) is a market in the Upper Palatinate district of Neustadt an der Waldnaab and a state-approved resort .

Geographical location
The place Eslarn is in the planning region Upper Palatinate North . Due to its quiet surroundings, it is a place of relaxation that also offers various opportunities for sporting activities. This includes above all the Atzmannsee leisure facility on the outskirts. Eslarn lies on the Loisbach .

history
Until the church is planted
Eslarn can look back on over 750 years of history due to its first documentary mention in 1240 in Nordgau (Bavaria) . In the place was an iron hammer that perished in the Thirty Years War . Already at the end of the 15th century the place had market rights with extensive magistrate's own rights. Elector Friedrich V of the Palatinate confirmed the market rights in 1598 and awarded a coat of arms. The place has been known as the market since 1613. He later belonged to the Amberg Rent Office and the Treswitz Regional Court of the Electorate of Bavaria . The municipality was created through the municipal edict of 1818 .
Eslarner Bockl
In the 19th and 20th centuries Eslarn gave its name to the Eslarner Bockl , the railway line from Eslarn to Neustadt an der Waldnaab . Bavaria's longest railway cycle path, the Bockl cycle path, runs 51 kilometers along the former railway line .
Incorporations
In 1945 or 1946 parts of the dissolved community of Gmeinsrieth were incorporated. On January 1, 1972, parts of Heumaden were added, and parts of Burkhardsrieth were added on July 1, 1972. Parts of the area of the dissolved municipality of Pfrentsch followed on July 1, 1976.

Culture and sights
Eslarn celebrates the traditional Heimatfest every five years. In 1995 the festival, which lasted about ten days, was held for the 20th time. A highlight is the pageant with numerous associations from Eslarn and the surrounding area as well as the homeland associations of Eslarn people abroad.

Architectural monuments
The Catholic parish church of the Assumption was built between 1681 and 1687 and expanded in 1910. The almost 50 meter high tower has an onion dome. The altar of grace around 1700 contains a Gothic statue of the Virgin Mary. A rosary Madonna was also created around 1700, the rococo pulpit in 1759 and the organ prospectus was created in 1757.

Others
The Franconian Way of St. James leads through Eslarn, which is marked with a white shell on a light blue background. It comes from Tillyschanz, where it begins. The Jakobsweg enters the Eslarn market along the Böhmerstraße. It swings to the right (in a north-westerly direction) into Tillystrasse and leads across Tillyplatz and the market square to Bahnhofstrasse. With the Bahnhofstrasse its direction changes to the southwest. It crosses the Loisbach and reaches the Atzmannsee via Kapellenstraße, Tradweg, Sportplatzstraße. The path turns south over the bathing meadow along the lakeshore and enters the forest near Pflugsbühl. The next town on the Franconian Way of St. James is Lohhof , 6.5 km southwest of Eslarn.
The Bockl cycle path ends in Eslarn, which leads from Neustadt an der Waldnaab to Eslarn on the former Neustadt – Eslarn railway line . It is part of the Paneuropean Cycle Route Prague - Paris . Eslarn is connected to the Euro-Velo Route 13 (Iron Curtain Trail) , the longest official long-distance cycle route in Europe, which runs along the former Iron Curtain from Kirkenes in Norway to Carelo on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast .
On the state road 2154 between Schönsee and Eslarn in the Northern Upper Palatinate Forest nature park on the eastern slope of the Stückberg is the Eslarn wildlife park with some native animals, a playground and an educational and adventure trail.

Economy including agriculture and forestry
In 1998, according to official statistics, there were 13 employees in the field of agriculture and forestry, 496 in the manufacturing sector and 61 in the trade and transport sector at the place of work. In other economic sectors 92 people were employed at the place of work subject to social insurance contributions. There were 1021 employees subject to social security contributions at the place of residence. There were 16 in the manufacturing sector and three in the construction sector. In addition, in 1999 there were 97 farms with an agricultural area of 2123 hectares, of which 1102 hectares were arable land and 1019 hectares were permanent green space.
