Weiherhammer is a municipality in the Upper Palatinate district of Neustadt an der Waldnaab and the seat of the Weiherhammer administrative community .
geography
The municipality is located in the Upper Palatinate North planning region , the main town just under 9 km southwest of Weiden .

The community of Weiherhammer has six districts:
- Dürnast
- Room
- Kaltenbrunn market
- Neumühle
- Trippach
- Weiherhammer
There are the districts of Kaltenbrunn, Kohlberg, Mallersricht, Röthenbach and Etzenricht.
history
Until the church is planted
Beckendorf, today's Weiherhammer, belonged to the Wittelsbach Duchy of Neuburg-Sulzbach and its court Weiden; since 1777 the area was part of the Electorate of Bavaria . In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , the municipality Etzenricht was created with the municipal edict of 1818 , which Beckendorf was incorporated.
Name change
In 1934 Beckendorf was renamed Weiherhammer after the iron and steel works, which had been located at the site since 1717, and received municipal independence on February 1, 1952.
Incorporations
On January 1, 1972, the Kaltenbrunn market was incorporated. On July 1, 1972, the villages of Dürnast and Trippach were added to the dissolved municipality of Mallersricht .

Economy and Infrastructure
Economy including agriculture and forestry
Weiherhammer is an old industrial site. The main employers are BHS Corrugated (corrugated board systems) and the Pilkington company (flat glass). There is a garbage dump in the Kalkhäusl district.
In 1998, according to official statistics, there were 1661 employees in the manufacturing sector and 210 in the trade and transport sector at the place of work. In other economic areas, 298 people were employed at the place of work subject to social security contributions. There were 1,455 employees at the place of residence subject to social security contributions. There were none in the manufacturing sector and two in the construction sector. In addition, in 1999 there were 21 agricultural holdings with an agriculturally used area of 513 ha, of which 353 ha were arable land.
