The Speinsharter Forest is an 11.25 km² community-free area in the Neustadt an der Waldnaab district in the Upper Palatinate . It is mostly forested and uninhabited.

history

In 2016, the neighboring communities of Speinshart, Vorbach, Neustadt am Kulm and Speichersdorf aimed at dissolving the community-free area by dividing it between them. However, since no agreement was reached on the demarcation of the border, no corresponding application was made to the government of the Upper Palatinate . The main obstacle to the agreement was an existing exclave of Speinshart, which lies on the northern border of the district between the Speinsharter Forest and the community of Neustadt am Kulm.
