Until the churches are founded
1145 founded the noble people von Reifenberg , his wife Richenza and his two brothers the monastery Speinshart and handed it over to the Premonstratensians . The abbey was abolished in 1556 in the course of the Reformation in the Upper Palatinate and was repopulated in 1661 from Steingaden Monastery . The place became part of the Electorate of Bavaria in the Thirty Years War and formed a closed Hofmark of the monastery until secularization in 1803 . After secularization, the monastery first came into state ownership and later housed the parsonage, a school and the forestry office, among other things. The rural communities of Speinshart, Tremmersdorf and Seitenthal were established in Bavaria by the municipal edict in 1818 .
20th century
In 1921, the spacious monastery was returned to mediation of Munich canon prelate Michael Hartig and by the Premonstratensians of the pin Tepl in Egerland refounded the monastery. In 1923 Speinshart became an abbey again .
Founding legend
The founding legend of Speinshart and the monastery reads: “In 1150, the wife of Count von Reifenberg and a friend got lost in the swamps. They kept coming in and couldn't find a way out. The countess prayed to God and promised to have a monastery built if they were saved. In the village the count was very worried about his wife and decided to look for her with some men. When, after a long search, the men found the two women, the Countess fell into her husband's arms and told him about her promise. Thereupon the count sent his white horse into the forest. The foundation stone for the monastery was to be laid at the point where the mold stopped three times. So it happened. The mold stopped three times in the same place in the middle of the swamps. The count had the swamps drained and laid the foundation stone of the monastery there. "
Incorporations
