Manteler Forest

The Manteler Forest is a 36.47 km² community-free area in the Neustadt an der Waldnaab district in the Upper Palatinate . It is mostly forested and uninhabited.

The area is mainly used for forestry by the Schnaittenbach forest operation of the Bavarian State Forests . The Weiden – Bayreuth railway runs in a north-westerly direction through the Manteler Forest.
According to the Bavarian State Forests, the Manteler Forest is one of the most species-rich areas in Bavaria. Its great importance for nature conservation is based above all on the close juxtaposition of dry sand habitats, near-natural waters and moors. There are the following nature reserves:
- Gscheibte Loh natural forest reserve
- Fauna-flora-habitat- area Lohen in the Manteler forest with Schießlweiher and Straßweiherkette
