In 1414 the reformer Johannes Huss came through Etzenricht on his way to the Council of Constance . Etzenricht in today's Upper Palatinate district has belonged to the Duchy of Neuburg-Sulzbach since the 17th century . In the Thirty Years' War Etzenricht 1631 was destroyed. Since 1777 the place belonged to the district court Parkstein-Weiden of the Electorate of Bavaria . In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 . The railway was built in 1875, but Etzenricht did not get its own station until 1877. Until the completion of the Catholic Church in 1932 there was a Simultaneum in Etzenricht , that is, Protestant and Catholic services were held in the same church. In 1934 the Beckendorf district was renamed Weiherhammer after the iron and steel works that had been based there since 1717 , and on February 1, 1952, it was given municipal independence.
