Etzenricht is a municipality in the Upper Palatinate district of Neustadt an der Waldnaab .
geography
Geographical location
In the vicinity of Etzenricht there are numerous small bodies of fish rich in fish that can be used by anglers with a fishing license from the local fishing club.
East of Etzenricht, in the direction of Rothenstadt, there is an E.ON AG substation with the Etzenricht direct current short coupling, to which there is also a 55 meter high directional radio tower at 49 ° 37'28 "north latitude and 12 ° 6'55" east longitude in a free-standing steel framework construction as well include a large compressor station for natural gas.

history
Etzenricht was mentioned for the first time in 1270 and in 1283 in the Salbuch Ludwig des Strengen as "Aechswinreuth". At that time the inhabitants lived from honey extraction and agriculture. In 1414 the reformer Johannes Huss came through Etzenricht on his way to the Council of Constance . Etzenricht in today's Upper Palatinate district has belonged to the Duchy of Neuburg-Sulzbach since the 17th century . In the Thirty Years' War Etzenricht 1631 was destroyed. Since 1777 the place belonged to the district court Parkstein-Weiden of the Electorate of Bavaria . In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 . The railway was built in 1875, but Etzenricht did not get its own station until 1877. Until the completion of the Catholic Church in 1932 there was a Simultaneum in Etzenricht , that is, Protestant and Catholic services were held in the same church. In 1934 the Beckendorf district was renamed Weiherhammer after the iron and steel works that had been based there since 1717 , and on February 1, 1952, it was given municipal independence.
Population development
Between 1988 and 2018 the population stagnated or decreased from 1568 to 1554 by 14 or 0.9%. On December 31, 1995 the community still had 1,780 inhabitants.

economy
In 1970, a substation of what was then Bayernwerk AG was built near Etzenricht , which was expanded several times in the following years and housed an HVDC close coupling, the GKK Etzenricht , from 1992 to 1995 . A 400 kV high voltage line leads to the Hradec substation in the Czech Republic.
