The Atari Panther was after the only moderately successful Atari 7800 an attempt by the company Atari Corporation , the successes of the competitors Sega (Mega Drive) and Nintendo join (Super Nintendo). Developed as a 32-bit game console since 1990, it was soon overtaken by the parallel development of the Jaguar and abandoned in its favor in June 1991. Parts of the technology, u. a. the controller, the design and the first games were taken over from the Jaguar.
