The Weiherhammer bird sanctuary is a nature reserve in Weiherhammer in the Upper Palatinate district of Neustadt an der Waldnaab in Bavaria .

The nature reserve is located east of the center of Weiherhammer. It is part of the Nature Park Northern Upper Palatinate Forest , the landscape conservation area LSG Bohemian hills in the western district of Neustadt adWaldnaab and Fauna Flora Habitat type region Heidenaab, Creussenaue and pond area northwest Eschenbach .

The approximately 19 hectare area essentially comprises the water surface and the siltation zones of the Hammerweiher in the north. It used to be part of a kilometer-long chain of ponds, which primarily served to equalize the water supply for the armory that was founded in the early 18th century. It is an important habitat for waterfowl and an important resting place during bird migration.

The nature reserve was redesignated on March 22, 1939, January 5, 1951 and November 24, 1976 with an amended ordinance.
