Joachim Bandau : Flight and Expulsion 1945

This list of displaced monuments in Bavaria (A – L) shows the displaced monuments in Bavarian towns and communities from Abensberg – Lindau.

Geographical meaning

70 years before the refugee crisis in Europe in 2015 , Bavaria was already a refuge for refugees and displaced persons . Hundreds of thousands of them came mainly from the neighboring Sudetenland and from the settlement areas in south-eastern Europe. They played a major role in the reconstruction of the Free State. Edmund Stoiber thanked them in 1999 with the Central Monument Flight and Expulsion in Nuremberg:

THE GERMAN DISPLACED PEOPLE. TO REMEMBER DEPORTATION, ESCAPE AND DISPLACEMENT. IN MEMORY OF YOUR HOME AND YOUR DEAD. THANKS FOR YOUR WORK IN THE RECONSTRUCTION IN BAVARIA.
THE BAVARIAN STATE GOVERNMENT. 1999.
