history

Dimpfl was originally called Hartmannsrieth. The ending -rieth of the original place name Hartmannsrieth indicates an early development of the place before the 13th century. The places with the place names ending in -reuth, -rieth, -ried, -richt (earlier spellings: -riut, -rivt, -rewt, derived from "clearing", "clearing") emerged in connection with the first settlement of the area by clearing the dense forest. Places with such names occur very often in the area of the rivers Pfreimd and Luhe and the adjacent streams. These were the starting point for the settlement of the region.

In 1308 the Waldauer took over the rule of Waldthurn. From that time on they called themselves Waldauer zu Waldthurn. In the following years they expanded their property through purchases from the Waldsassen monastery . In 1352 the Waldau residents of Waldthurn also bought Dimpfl from the Waldsassen monastery.

Dimpfl was on the southern edge of the Waldthurn dominion, which occupied the northern part of the Vohenstrauss district. At the end of the 18th century, Dimpfl was a municipality in the Vohenstrauß district. In 1808 tax districts were formed. Dimpfl was a tax district. In addition to Dimpfl itself, the Dimpfl district included the villages of Faislbach, Rehberg and Vorderbrünst, the hamlet of Neuenhammer and the deserted areas of Galsterlohe and Hammermühle.

Markets, rural communities and village communities emerged from the tax districts . In 1821 Dimpfl was a village parish. It consisted of the village of Dimpfl itself with 35 families, the desert Kühtränk with two families, the desert Prollermühle with one family and the desert Rehlohe with two families. This village community of Dimpfl existed from 1821 to 1830. Then it was expanded. In 1830, the previously independent community of Rehberg was incorporated into Dimpfl. The community Rehberg consisted of the village Rehberg itself with 17 families and the hamlet Galsterlohe with 16 families. In addition, hammer mills and paper mills were added to the community of Dimpfl in 1830.

In 1867 Dimpfl had 39 buildings and 123 residents. Dimpfl was a municipality to which, in addition to Dimpfl itself, the districts Galsterlohe, Hammermühle, Kühtränk, Neuenhammer, Papiermühle, Prallermühle, Rehberg, Rehlohe, Schmidlerschleif and Ziegelhütte belonged.

In 1871 there was a volunteer fire brigade in Dimpfl.

In 1964, Dimpfl was an independent municipality with the districts of Dimpfl, Galsterlohe, Hammermühle, Kühtränk, Papiermühle, Prollermühle, Rehberg, Rehlohe and Schmidtlerschleif.
