Geographical location

Hammermühle is located about two kilometers southwest of Georgenberg in the Zottbachtal south of the state road 2396 on the east side of the Zottbach directly south of Neuenhammer.

history

In 1808 tax districts were formed. In addition to Dimpfl, the Dimpfl tax district included the villages of Faislbach, Rehberg and Vorderbrünst, the hamlet of Neuenhammer and the desert areas of Galsterlohe and Hammermühle.

Hammermühle has been part of the community of Dimpfl since 1830. Dimpfl, Galsterlohe, Hammermühle, Kühtränk, Papiermühle, Prollermühle, Rehberg, Rehlohe and Schmidtlerschleif belonged to the municipality of Dimpfl.

In 1855 there was a glass ribbon in Hammermühle.

In 1867 Hammermühle had 3 buildings and 11 residents.

In 1970 a referendum on voluntary territorial reform took place. On January 1, 1971, the community of Dimpfl including Hammermühle was incorporated into Georgenberg.

religion

Hammermühle belongs to the parish Neukirchen zu St. Christoph and to the dean's office in Leuchtenberg. In 1990 there were 36 Catholics in Hammermühle.

Worth seeing

The former hammer mill, which later served as a glass loop, still stands in the Hammermühle district. The mill building and the associated works canal date from the 18th century and are a listed building. Opposite is the Gasthaus Bräuhäusl.
