Altenstadt bei Vohenstrauß is a church village in the Upper Palatinate district of Neustadt an der Waldnaab . The formerly independent community is now part of Vohenstrauss .
The community should not be confused with Altenstadt an der Waldnaab, 18 km away .
location
The old town of Altenstadt is about 1.3 km northwest of Vohenstrauss on the state road St 2181 . From this the district road NEW 32 branches off to Vohenstrauß. Today both places are structurally connected.
history
In 1124 Bishop Otto von Bamberg consecrated the church to "Vohendreze", today's Altenstadt. During this time Vohenstrauss belonged with the raft and park stone to the powerful family of the Counts of Sulzbach . After the Sulzbachers died out in 1189, the Hohenstaufen acquired their own property and probably founded the new market at the beginning of the 13th century , because in 1230 Altenstadt was already known as "veteri (= old) vohendrezz". The name Altenstadt was first mentioned in 1262, when Berthold von Waldthurn gave away some indebted farms to the Waldsassen monastery .
The political community Altenstadt bei Vohenstrauß was established in 1818 by the Bavarian community edict. After the end of the Second World War , the US military government incorporated the two communities Altenstadt bei Vohenstrauß and Oberlind into the city of Vohenstrauss on January 1, 1946 . On December 26, 1947, the two former municipalities voted in a vote to regain their political independence. In addition to the main town, the community consisted of the districts Fiedlbühl , Fürstenmühle , Kößlmühle , Obertresenfeld , Papiermühle and Unterertresenfeld .
As part of the municipal reform in Bavaria, the municipality of Altenstadt was initially incorporated into the Vohenstrauß registry office district on January 1, 1968. On July 1, 1972, it was incorporated into the town of Vohenstrauß.
