Grünhammer is a hamlet in the northern Upper Palatinate and part of the city of Vohenstrauß . About five people live in the hamlet.

Geographical location

Grünhammer is located in the Upper Palatinate Forest on the banks of the Pfreimd , about 3 km southwest of Moosbach and 5 km southeast of Vohenstrauß.

history

Grünhammer was originally called "Hammer Altentreswitz". This iron hammer was mentioned as early as the 14th century as a member of the Upper Palatinate hammer cleaning organization . In 1380 Hammer Altentreswitz undertook to deliver a half-pound rail iron.

The Hammerherr von Altentreswitz undertook in 1534 to deliver the iron produced to the iron trading company in Amberg, from which he in turn obtained the ore. In 1556 Altentreswitz made rails for 700 guilders. The company logo for Altentreswitz, with which the iron was identified, was a "Hellparte in der Pann" ( halberd in the pan).

In the Salbuch from 1562 and in the official description of 1596, Grünhammer was recorded under the name Hammer Altentreswitz with an estate hammer with mill. The tithe rights had the Propstei Böhmischbruck . In 1640, Peter de Grien is registered here as the owner , who presumably was responsible for the renaming of the Altentreswitz hammer to Grünhammer. In 1870 a grinding and polishing plant was set up at Hammergut Grünhammer, and the former glass, grinding and polishing plant has been part of the Waidhaus wire plant since 1988 .

In 1782 Grünhammer belonged to the parish of Böhmischbruck.

Grünhammer belonged to the Altentreswitz tax district formed in 1808 . In addition to Altentreswitz, this included Böhmischbruck, Kößing , Grünhammer and Wastlmühle .

From 1808 to 1830 Grünhammer and Wastlmühle belonged to the independent rural community Altentreswitz. In 1830 this was incorporated into the municipality of Böhmischbruck together with Grünhammer, Wastlmühle, Kößing and Linglmühle.
