history

Neuwirtshaus is located on an old road that came from Nuremberg and Amberg via Unterköblitz (Naabübergang), Wernberg, Wittschau, Neuwirtshaus, Braunetsrieth, Lohma and Waidhaus to Bohemia . It served as a link between Slavic settlements. Even today (2019) there are important roads on and near this route, namely the A6 motorway and federal highway 14 .

Neuwirtshaus belonged together with Altenstadt bei Vohenstrauß , Fiedlbühl , Fürstenmühle (Vohenstrauß) , Papiermühle (Vohenstrauß) to the Vohenstrauss office. According to tax bills from 1770, general files from 1792, topographical descriptions from 1800 and the original cadastre from 1840, Neuwirtshaus had 2 properties at the end of the 18th century. It belonged to the Catholic and Protestant parishes of Vohenstrauss.

In 1808, when the tax districts were formed , Neuwirtshaus came under the Vohenstrauß tax district. The Vohenstrauß tax district included the Vohenstrauss market and the deserted hop mill, leather mill, Neuwirtshaus, Sägmühle and Übersteherhäusl.

Neuwirtshaus was already marked on the historical map from 1808 to 1864. It did not appear in the population statistics until 1871.

Neuwirtshaus has belonged to the Vohenstrauß community since the community was formed in 1821. The municipality of Vohenstrauß initially consisted of Vohenstrauss, Galgenberg, Hartwichshof, Kapplhaus, Neuwirtshaus, Taucherhof and Wilhelmshöhe. In 1946 Braunetsrieth and Weißenstein were incorporated into Vohenstrauss.
