Geographical location

Obertresenfeld is located on the banks of the Trausenbach. The Trausenbach changes its name twice. It is called from its source on the western slope of the Fahrenberg to about Obertresenfeld Furtbach, then at Untertresenfeld Löhlbach and further downstream Trausenbach to its confluence with the Luhe .

history

In the middle of the 13th century (upper and lower) bar field (also: Dresenvelt, Dresenfeld) belonged to the dominion of Waldthurn. Tresenfeld was mentioned in writing in 1271, 1272 and 1273. Ulrich von Hostau , Gottfried von Waldthurn and Friedrich von Waldthurn waived their claims to goods in Tresenfeld in favor of the Waldsassen Abbey.

The Landgrave Ulrich II. And John I bought two farms in 1352 in Upper counter field.

In 1366 Ulrich II and Johann I shared their property. Ulrich II received the Leuchtenberg fortress and all possessions west of the road from Vohenstrauss to Weiden. Johann I received the fortress Pleystein and all possessions east of the road from Vohenstrauss to Weiden. With that, the two farms in Obertresenfeld fell to Johann I and the Pleystein rule.

In the 14th century, the Waldsassen monastery had tithes over 7 farms in Obertresenfeld.

In 1535 the people of Waldthurn had 2 farms, 2 half farms and 1 fiefdom in Obertresenfeld, 2 farms and 1 fiefdom in Mittertresenfeld and 1 Grundholden in Unterertresenfeld.

In the 18th century a property in Obertresenfeld belonged to the Waldthurn domain. It was under the rule of the Catholic Church Foundation Vohenstrauss. In the 18th century Obertresenfeld was a village, Untertresenfeld a hamlet, both of which belonged to the Altenstadt community. A property in Tresenfeld was free and paid interest to the parish of Luhe.

In the 18th century Tresenfeld belonged to the Altenstadt community and Vohenstrauss parish. It had 16 properties and a mill. The parish of Luhe received interest payments. 2 properties were subordinate to the manor and the lower court of Pleystein, another property was subject to the manor of the Catholic Church Foundation Vohenstrauss and the lower court of Amt Vohenstrauss, the rest was subordinate to the lower court of Leuchtenberg.

Obertresenfeld belonged to the Altenstadt tax district formed in 1808 . In addition to Altenstadt itself, this included Obertresenfeld, Unterertresenfeld, Fiedlbühl, Kößlmühle, Oelschlag, and Papiermühle.

At the beginning of the 19th century, with 23 families, Tresenfeld formed a direct regional judicial rural community that belonged to the Waldthurn market. This community Tresenfeld consisted of the village Obertresenfeld with 17 families and the hamlet Untertresenfeld with 6 families.

In 1830 Tresenfeld was incorporated into Altenstadt.

With the municipality reform in 1972 Obertresenfeld came into the municipality of Vohenstrauß.

Chapel in Obertresenfeld

The first local listed chapel of the Birth of the Virgin is said to date from 1701. Around 1900 it was renovated after a fire. The old chapel was demolished in 2002 because of the poor structure. The foundation stone was laid on April 30, 2002 by the parish priest Franz Winklmann; the topping-out ceremony was celebrated on May 24, 2002. The bell tower was assembled on November 30th and on December 11th, 2002 the bell could ring again. On September 14, 2003, former Bishop Manfred Müller consecrated the Chapel of the Birth of Mary in Obertresenfeld together with Pastor Alexander Hösl and his predecessor, Pastor Franz Winklmann .

The church is a simple rectangular building with a covered portico , a round apse and a roof turret used as a bell tower . A cast bell has been located here since 1960 (the original weather bell was from 1439), and an electric bell was installed at that time. The wooden ceiling dates from 1930, and new chairs were installed in 1978. A late Gothic wooden statue of the Madonna and Child from 1480 stands on the Marien Altar. A large wooden crucifix hangs above the entrance . The Stations of the Cross and the massive offering box were newly acquired.
