The Peace Museum of Sierra Leone ( English Sierra Leone Peace Museum ) is a museum and memorial in the Sierra Leonean capital Freetown . It was established on the basis of the final report of the Sierra Leone Truth and Reconciliation Commission .

The museum was opened in 2013 after a two-year planning phase and is located on the site of the former Special Court for Sierra Leone , which legally dealt with the civil war in Sierra Leone .

In the first phase, the Peace Museum is divided into three areas:

  • Permanent exhibition
  • Memorial Garden as the center of the memorial
  • Archives and Library
