history

Beginnings up to the 17th century

The area of Altentreswitz was already settled in the Paleolithic and Mesolithic . Directly adjacent is southwest of the village a endpaläolithische and Mesolithic open air site with the Memorial number D-3-6440-0008. Further mesolithic open-air stations are located to the northeast (D-3-6440-0059) and southwest (D-3-6440-0009) of Altentreswitz.

The place name Altentreswitz indicates that the Pfreimd valley was settled by Slavs before the 10th century . There is also a document from the year 905. In this it was confirmed that King Ludwig gave the child a Hufe an der Luhe to a real estate. The previous owner of this piece of land was a Slav named Gruonkin.

In the 13th century Altentreswitz belonged to the brothers Otto, Jordan, Pernold, Martin and Zezerna von Treswitz (also: Draewitz, Dreswitz). They were the sons of Bernold von Treswitz, who died before 1256. Pernold the Younger is referred to in a document from 1232 as the Ministeriale of the Counts of Ortenburg .

In the 14th century there was an iron hammer in Altentreswitz that was a member of the Upper Palatinate hammer cleaning association . In 1380 Altentreswitz undertook to deliver a half-pound rail iron. In 1566 the hammer master Hans Sauerzapf is mentioned here , whose fortune is estimated at 3000 fl .

In the 16th century, Altentreswitz belonged to the municipality of Böhmischbruck in the Vohenstrauß district. It had 16 properties, a mill and a shepherd's house. The Treswitz Nursing Office and the parish of Böhmischbruck had rights to toe. The Matthäuskirche is located on the castle hill above the village.

The Hammerherr von Altentreswitz undertook in 1534 to deliver the iron produced to the iron trading company in Amberg, from which he in turn obtained the ore. In 1556 Altentreswitz made rails for 700 guilders. The company logo for Altentreswitz, with which the iron was identified, was a "Hellparte in der Pann" ( halberd in the pan).

In the 17th century Altentreswitz belonged to the market ban of the weekly market Moosbach and to the court of Burgtreswitz.

18th century to the present

In the 18th century Altentreswitz had 15 properties, a mill, a smithy, a shepherd's house and the Bartholomäus chapel. In 1782 Altentreswitz belonged to the parish of Böhmischbruck.

In 1808 the Altentreswitz tax district was formed. In addition to Altentreswitz itself, Böhmischbruck, Kößing, Grünhammer and Wastlmühle also belonged to this tax district.

With the municipal dictates of 1808 and 1818 under Maximilian von Montgelas , political and rural communities were formed. It was originally intended that the municipal areas coincide with the tax districts, but this did not always succeed. After the formation of the community there were 47 tax districts but 90 rural communities.

Altentreswitz formed a rural community together with Grünhammer and Wastlmühle.

In 1830 the independent rural community Altentreswitz was incorporated into the municipality of Böhmischbruck together with Grünhammer, Wastlmühle, Kößing and Linglmühle.
