history

Iltismühle was originally called Iltesrieth. The ending -rieth indicates that Iltismühle is one of the German clearing settlements that emerged on the Luhe and its tributaries in the 11th, 12th and 13th centuries .

In the 18th century, Iltismühle with an estate and a mill belonged to the municipality of Waldau, district of Vohenstrauß. Iltismühle belonged to the Vohenstrauss parish, Altenstadt branch.

With the formation of the tax districts in 1808, Waldau became a tax district. The Waldau tax district included the villages of Erpetshof, Trasgschieß, Waldau and Zeßmannsrieth and the desert cover works, Iltismühle, Neumühle and Zieglmühle.

In 1809, Iltismühle belonged to the Waldau lordship. In 1809, the Waldau dominion formed a patrimonial court . Their owners were the Freiherrn von Lilien. It had 130 people behind it and comprised a mixed district with the towns of Altenstadt, Arnmühle, Braunetsrieth, Erpetshof, Iltismühle, Kößlmühle, Matzlesrieth, Neumühle, Obernankau, Trasgschieß, Trauschendorf, Zeßmannsrieth, Zieglmühle and Waldau.

In 1821 Iltismühle belonged to the indirect patrimonial rural community of Waldau. The municipality of Waldau included the villages of Waldau with 59 families, Erpetshof with 9 families and Zeßmannsrieth with 13 families, the hamlet of Trasgschieß with 5 families, the desert Arnmühle with one family, Iltismühle with 3 families, Neumühle with 3 families and Zieglmühle with 5 families.

When the municipality of Waldau was incorporated into the municipality of Vohenstrauß on January 1, 1972 as part of the municipal reform, Iltismühle became part of Vohenstrauss.
