Geographical location

Fiedlbühl is located in the Upper Palatinate Forest, about 1.6 km north of Vohenstrauss and 2.5 km north of the A6 motorway . It is located on the southwestern edge of the extensive forest area around the 801 m high Fahrenberg . On the eastern outskirts of Fiedlbühl is a pond, into which two streams flow from the north of the Fahrenberg massif. The eastern brook is called the Fahrenberger Bach. The pond drains into the Fahrenberger Bach.

If you compare the representation on the historical map from 1817 - 1841 with the representation on the modern map, you can see that in the 19th century the houses to the east and south of the pond were called Fiedlbühl. Since the middle of the 20th century, a newly developed settlement west of the pond was called Fiedlbühl and the area of the original Fiedlbühl was now called Kapplhaus.

history

In the 18th century, Fiedlbühl belonged to the Vohenstrauss office. In addition to Vohenstrauss itself, this included the places Altenstadt, Fiedlbühl, Ölschlag, Papiermühle, Fürstenmühle, Neuwirtshaus, Oberlind, Unterlind, Obertresenfeld and Untertresenfeld. At that time Fiedlbühl had 5 properties.

Fiedlbühl belonged to the Altenstadt tax district formed in 1808 . In addition to Altenstadt itself, this included Obertresenfeld, Unterertresenfeld, Fiedlbühl, Kößlmühle, Oelschlag, and Papiermühle.

Between 1821 and 1830, Altenstadt together with Fiedlbühl and Oelschlag formed an independent, immediate regional rural district . In 1830 the previously independent municipality of Tresenfeld was merged with Altenstadt. Since 1830 the Kößlmühle and the paper mill have also been documented as belonging to Altenstadt.

With the municipality reform in 1972, Fiedlbühl came to the municipality of Vohenstrauß.

Path chapel to Fiedlbühl

Construction of the chapel began on September 2, 1963, under the authority of the Altenstadt community, and was then completed on April 30, 1964. The simple chapel has an open and about 2.5 m high roof turret with a bell. The altar has a cross and a hand-carved statue of Mary with a baby Jesus. This was donated by Alfons Goppel, who was then electoral district representative and Bavarian Prime Minister, on September 25, 1970.
